Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the pre-trial investigation was completed and an indictment against a 36-year-old man was submitted to the court. He is accused of a completed attempted murder and violence against a law enforcement officer (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Article 115, Part 2 of Article 345 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in November 2023, in one of the districts of Lviv, the accused and his friend were drinking alcohol. During the feast, in the kitchen, a conflict arose between them, during which the defendant grabbed a wooden stool and hit the victim several times on the head. As a result, the latter fell to the floor. After that, the defendant took a kitchen knife and began to stab his friend numerous times. After the crime, he called the police.
Law enforcement officers arrived and took the defendant to the police station to clarify all the circumstances. However, during the conversation with the police officer, the man intentionally inflicted bodily harm on the law enforcement officer.
The accused is currently in custody.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
