The deputy commander of a military unit in the Lviv region is suspected of improperly disbursing 36 million hryvnias.
According to investigative data, the 55-year-old chief of staff and first deputy commander of the military unit agreed on orders for payments amounting to 100,000 hryvnias without legal grounds. These sums were designated as additional rewards for 217 military personnel for allegedly completed combat or special tasks, although they were in the rear.
Due to such disregard for duties by the commander, the personnel was unjustifiably credited with nearly 36 million hryvnias. A petition for preventive measures has already been submitted to the court for him. Prosecutors are also preparing a civil lawsuit to compensate the state for the damages.
Procedural supervision is carried out by the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region.
