On lviv.gp.gov.ua, it is reported that in February this year, the director of one of the medical associations in the Lviv region, who is also a deputy of one of the city councils, demanded and received an improper benefit from a local resident. According to the investigation, the official promised to arrange for a conscript to become an ambulance driver in a medical institution under his control. This employment would allow the man of mobilization age to receive a reserved status during the mobilization period.
The director valued his “services” at $3,000. Law enforcement officers detained the official under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving the improper benefit. Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the detainee was notified of suspicion of demanding and receiving an improper benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure and removal from office is being decided.
The pre-trial investigation is conducted by the Main Directorate of the Police of the Lviv Region, with operational support provided by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region. According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
