Lviv police detain offender who threw a grenade into a household’s yard
No one was injured in the explosion. The offender faces up to seven years’ imprisonment for the crime.
The police received a report of an explosion on the territory of a household in a village in the Chervonohrad district of Lviv region on 16 July at around 13:15. According to the applicant, an unknown person threw a grenade into the yard and fled in a car. Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion, and the fence was damaged.
The investigative team of the Police Department No. 1 of the Chervonohrad District Police Department, forensic experts, explosives experts and officers of other police services of Lviv region were working at the scene. It was established that the grenade exploded, probably F-1.
Law enforcement officers detained a 50-year-old resident of Lviv in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers are establishing the motives for the crime.
Investigators of the territorial police unit under the procedural supervision of the Chervonohrad District Prosecutor’s Office served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 4 of Art. 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are establishing the origin of the ammunition. The court will soon choose a type of detention for the suspect.
