Resident of Shchyrets Community to Face Court for Weapon Possession

A resident of the Shchyrets Community in the Lviv region has appeared in court charged with the illegal possession of weapons, ammunition, and grenades. He is accused of violating part 1, article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, as reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation established that the 40-year-old man contacted the police and reported having ammunition he could use to damage an administrative building in Pustomyty. Following this, law enforcement promptly detained him.

During the search, the detainee was found with three hand grenades and 30 Kalashnikov rifle cartridges. Additionally, 180 more cartridges, four rifle magazines, a combat grenade, fuses, and cartridges for pump-action shotguns were discovered in his residence. The accused is currently in custody.

The investigation is being conducted by Division No. 3 of Lviv District Police Administration No. 2 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Oblast. Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subject to criminal punishment until proven guilty in a lawful manner and established by a court’s conviction.
