Man from Yavoriv Community to Face Trial for Smuggling Goods Worth Nearly 30 Million UAH Hidden as Sausage Products

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have submitted an indictment to court against a 62-year-old resident of the Yavoriv community. He is accused of smuggling goods, including excisable items, into Ukraine in violation of customs regulations (Part 2 of Articles 201-3 and 201-4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

🔹 Case summary:

  • In early August last year, the man attempted to illegally bring high-value goods from Poland into Ukraine.
  • The items included:
    • Over 400 premium mobile phones;
    • Nearly 3,500 bottles of luxury perfumes and testers;
    • Around 19,500 bottles of e-cigarette liquids;
    • Several units of small household appliances.

🔹 Smuggling method:

  • To avoid declaring the items and paying customs fees, he used the “green corridor” at the border.
  • The goods were hidden in the cargo area of a minivan inside cardboard boxes labeled as containing sausage products.
  • Boxes with electronics and perfumes were placed beneath actual meat products for camouflage.

🔹 Discovery and consequences:

  • Border guards discovered the hidden goods during a vehicle inspection.
  • The estimated value of the seized items totals nearly 30 million UAH, including:
    • Around 17 million UAH in electronics and perfumes;
    • Over 12 million UAH in e-cigarette liquids.
  • The court has seized the goods and the vehicle at the prosecutor’s request.

The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by the Territorial Office of the Bureau of Economic Security in Lviv Region with operational support from the 7th and 6th Border Guard Detachments and the Lviv Customs Office.
