He hacked mailboxes and sold their credentials: the hacker was sentenced in Lviv

According to the public indictment of the Galician District Prosecutor’s Office, the court found a 31-year-old resident of Lviv guilty of unauthorized interference in the operation of information electronic networks, sale of restricted access information stored in computers, and creation and use of malicious software (part 1 of Article 361, Part 1 of Article 361-2, Part 1 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Prosecutors proved in court that the culprit, having skills in the use of software, with the help of his own computer spread malicious software through the Internet to an unlimited number of people, intended for unauthorized interference in the work of electronic information and communication systems.

According to the conclusion of the computer and technical expertise and the “VIRUSTOTAL” database, the specified program is malicious.

Therefore, this same year, the person involved, using the specified program, by selecting authorization data, namely, login and password, gained access to 53 mailbox accounts, which is information with limited access, which is created and protected in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.

In particular, the convict made an unauthorized intervention in the work of the accounts of 12 well-known network mail services, which led to a violation of the order of information routing, its blocking and leakage.

The court sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment with probation.
