Representatives of the “Rodovid Archive” project have approached Truskavets City Council and provided information on the options for researching the family history of residents of the villages of Stanylia, Modrychi and Dobrohostiv in the Truskavets urban community.
“Rodovid Archive” works with parish registers held in Ukrainian archives and is creating an open online catalogue of settlements in Ukraine. Dedicated pages in this catalogue already exist for the above-mentioned villages of the Truskavets community. Use of the catalogue is free of charge and does not require registration, while individual family history research is carried out by the project on a commissioned basis.
Parish registers kept by the parishes contain records of baptisms, marriages and burials. Using these records, it is possible to establish the names of ancestors who lived 100–200 years ago.
According to the project, the following is known for the settlements of the Truskavets community:
- Stanylia – Greek Catholic parish registers for 1784–1941 (with gaps), digitised, held in the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv.
- Dobrohostiv – Greek Catholic parish registers for 1786–1920 (with gaps), digitised, held in the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Lviv.
- Modrychi – Greek Catholic parish registers for 1895–1902 (with gaps), digitised, held in the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw.
Users can find the pages for other settlements in the Truskavets community and in Lviv Region in general in the “Rodovid Archive” catalogue by entering the name of the village or town in the search.
