From 12 October, the procedure for cashless payment of fares on suburban and intercity bus routes in the Lviv region is changing. From now on, a bank card, an NFC-enabled device or a concessionary card must be tapped on the validator only once — when boarding the bus. This mode is being introduced for the duration of martial law due to unstable mobile communication.
To pay for the journey, when boarding the passenger must tell the driver their final stop, after which they should tap their card or NFC device on the validator. The driver selects the appropriate fare and confirms the transaction, and the passenger must make sure that a green mark indicating a successful transaction appears on the screen, and take the printed ticket.
It is no longer necessary to tap the card again when getting off. It is stated that one card may be used for only one passenger. To use a concessionary fare, you must have with you a document confirming your entitlement, and the ticket received should be kept until the end of the journey. If a red cross appears on the validator screen, this means that payment or registration of the journey has not taken place.
Cash payment remains unchanged: the passenger tells the driver their final stop, pays the fare and receives a paper ticket. A transition period is set from 12 to 16 October, during which the new payment procedure will apply and its adaptation will continue. Passengers are asked to monitor the operation of the validator carefully and to be sure to keep their ticket until the end of the journey.
