Meteorologists warn of a SGY-III hydrological natural hazard associated with very low water levels in rivers. Between 16 and 30 September, rivers in the Dniester basin (within Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi regions), the San (Lviv region) and the Western Bug (Lviv and Volyn regions) will remain in a low summer–autumn low-water regime.
According to the forecast, water levels in these watercourses will be close to the lowest values recorded over the entire multi-year observation period, and in some places even lower. Prolonged low water is expected in the rivers, in places falling below the low-water criterion.
On certain rivers in the region, intensive overgrowth of riverbeds with aquatic vegetation is possible, and on small rivers there may be significant shallowing or even a complete absence of flow. Such conditions will complicate the operation of the water management system, in particular water use and the provision of water for the needs of the population and the economy.
A brown danger level has been set for this period, so the relevant services and water users are advised to take this warning into account in their activities.
