In September, residents of the Lviv City Territorial Community and visitors to the city brought 9,940 kg of bulky waste – construction debris, old furniture and household appliances – to the collection site at 18 Zhovkivska Street. According to LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans”, this is two tonnes more than in August.
At this site, all waste is sorted and sent for recycling. The company thanks residents who do not leave such items next to communal container sites, but instead bring them to the Collection Centre on Zhovkivska Street, helping to keep the city clean.
According to LKP “Lvivspetskomuntrans”, in September they accepted:
- 5,650 kg of renovation waste;
- 3,340 kg of bulky waste (old furniture);
- 950 kg of household appliances.
Bulky waste is considered to be waste that exceeds 50×50×50 cm in size and physically does not fit into standard containers or refuse lorries. This includes, in particular, furniture, doors and other large household items. Renovation waste – bricks, tiles, concrete – is collected and removed separately, as are household appliances such as fridges, washing machines, televisions and so on. If such items end up in a regular refuse lorry, this can cause equipment breakdowns and delays in collecting waste from other sites.
The bulky waste collection site at 18 Zhovkivska Street is open from Monday to Thursday from 08:30 to 16:30, and on Friday until 15:30. The lunch break lasts from 12:15 to 13:00. Here you can drop off old furniture, renovation waste, household appliances and other bulky items that cannot be left next to containers or thrown into mixed-waste bins.
Waste is accepted from residents of the Lviv City Territorial Community and from visitors to the city. To draw up a contract-invoice, you need to have an identity document.
The acceptance fee is:
- 1 kg of old furniture – UAH 2.95;
- 1 kg of construction waste – UAH 1.40;
- 1 kg of household appliances – UAH 1.99.
Per month, no more than the following may be accepted from one person:
- 500 kg of renovation waste (clean, without impurities or flammable materials);
- 5 small and 2 large household appliances;
- 1 bulky item (bed, sofa, large armchair).
The site does not accept car tyres, fluorescent lamps and other hazardous waste, as well as polystyrene foam, old uPVC windows or doors, and clothing.
