In Lviv, enhanced monitoring of air conditioning systems on public transport continues. On 5 August, staff from the transport department inspected the cooling systems on 53 city buses operating on 11 routes.
Inspections were carried out on routes No. 14, 20, 23, 31, 32, 34, 37, 43, 48, 51, 53, 80 and 84. As a result, two violations were identified: faulty air conditioners were recorded on one bus on route No. 31, operated by PJSC “LATP-14630”, and on one bus on route No. 34, operated by the carrier LLC “Fiakr Lviv”.
Following the inspection, these operators must pay fines for failing to comply with the terms of their passenger transport contracts. Large-scale checks of the technical condition of vehicles in Lviv were stepped up after an increase in complaints from residents about heat and stuffiness in the passenger compartments.
The transport department explains that not all city buses are structurally equipped with cooling systems. Of the more than 500 buses running on routes, over 180 have air conditioning. The situation is similar for electric transport: 134 trams and trolleybuses run every day, of which more than 60 are fitted with air conditioning.
The City Council reminds passengers that they can report cases where air conditioners are not working on buses, or where windows or roof hatches cannot be opened on vehicles without cooling systems. Reports are accepted via the City Hotline on 15-80. Callers are asked to provide the route number and the registration or fleet number of the vehicle.
