Veterans of Ukraine, both men and women, can obtain a compulsory third-party motor insurance policy without any personal expense. This has become possible thanks to the combination of state compensation and a discount from the insurance company, as reported by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
The mechanism works as follows: 50% of the policy cost is covered by the state, and a further 50% is provided as a discount by the insurer. As a result, a veteran who owns a vehicle effectively does not pay for third-party insurance.
The compensation is available to individuals who:
- have a veteran’s certificate in the Diia app (a combatant or a person with a disability caused by the war);
- are at least 18 years old;
- have a verified taxpayer identification number (RNOKPP);
- have concluded a third-party insurance contract using the veteran benefit;
- do not use the vehicle for commercial activities;
- drive a car with an engine capacity of up to 2500 cm³ or an electric motor with a capacity of up to 100 kW.
You can apply for compensation entirely online via the Diia mobile application. To do this, you need to:
- open the Diia app;
- go to the “Veteran PRO” section;
- select the “Third-party insurance compensation” service;
- select or create a Diia.Card for receiving the funds;
- wait for the application to be processed and the result.
The Ministry of Veterans Affairs notes that this service is an example of simple and clear support that enables veterans, both men and women, to use essential services without unnecessary expenses or bureaucratic procedures.
