During the period from January to June, the polluting enterprises of the Lviv region paid an environmental tax in the amount of 59 million hryvnias to the consolidated budget, of which 17.6 million were credited to the special fund of the regional budget – the regional environmental protection fund.
Oksana Viytyk, deputy director of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, notes that in the future, the funds of the regional fund will be directed to the implementation of nature protection and resource conservation measures of the region, related to the protection of the natural environment, prevention, reduction and elimination of environmental pollution.
According to her, the environmental tax, which in its essence is compensation by enterprises for pollution caused by their activities and stimulates the reduction of pollutant emissions and forms a more conscious attitude to natural resources among polluters.
