Four days of closures: inbound lane on Horodotska Street in Lviv to be resurfaced

On Horodotska Street in Lviv, on the stretch from the Sknylivskyi overpass to Vyhovskoho Street in the direction of entering the city, full-width resurfacing is starting. As reported by the Zaliznychnyi District Administration, this lane will be completely closed to traffic for four days.

Milling of the old asphalt surface on this section has already been completed, so from 25 to 28 August inclusive new asphalt will be laid here. For the duration of the works, traffic in the inbound direction will be closed, while on the opposite side, in the outbound direction, contraflow traffic will be organised. All public transport routes will keep their usual routes, although delays are possible.

According to the district administration, on the inbound lane, as on the already repaired opposite side, the lower layer of the road surface will be partially replaced and the top layer completely renewed, and the rainwater grates and inspection chamber covers will be raised to road level. The works are being carried out by the contractor TzOV “Onur” with deferred payment.

Repairs on Horodotska Street on the stretch from Vyhovskoho Street to the Sknylivskyi overpass began on 6 August, and this section is about 2 km long. It is one of several major road projects that Lviv is implementing under martial law using loan funds and a deferred payment mechanism.

After the start of russia’s full-scale invasion, capital road repairs in Lviv were temporarily suspended, but due to heavy traffic the surface on many streets began to deteriorate rapidly. Therefore, in 2025, repairs to Zaliznychna Street were started using loan funds, and in 2026 to Mazepy Street. Meanwhile, works on Stryiska, Heroiv UPA, Horodotska and Vynnychenka streets are being carried out with deferred payment.

Local businesses are also contributing to the financing of road repairs. In particular, repairs on Koniushynna Street were carried out with deferred payment and co-financing from entrepreneurs, and repairs on Beskydska Street are ongoing under the same arrangement.
