Due to military actions in the Lviv region, it is planned to increase sown areas this year

Цьогорічної кількості врожаю вистачить на усі внутрішні потреби країни

This year, a great burden of responsibility has been placed on the Lviv region, as the geography of the sowing campaign in Ukraine will change somewhat due to the hostilities.

This was announced by the director of the department of agro-industrial development of the Lviv regional military administration Tetyana Hetman.

“Southern regions will not be able to sow the same amount of areas as last year, which is why farmers in Lviv region plan to increase production area. We appealed to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine with a proposal to develop an algorithm for attracting additional agricultural land for crops that are in communal ownership and are not yet cultivated. Such lands can be provided to professional farmers to engage in production ”, – said the director of the department.

She added that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is also developing a program of preferential lending to small and medium-sized farmers in order to provide access to financing working capital.

“There will most likely be no shortage of flour, as Ukraine exports more than 50% of the total grain harvest. Therefore, even if this year we harvest only half as much as last year, it will still be enough for the urgent needs of all citizens. In order for farmers to be able to provide the current sowing campaign with at least a minimum of important production resources, the Government has introduced a ban on the export of mineral fertilizers, ” said Tatiana Hetman.

The director of the APR department said that the logistics were also disrupted due to the hostilities, which made communication with the main sales channels much more difficult.

“Currently, the ports are not working, and they were the main transshipment point for Ukrainian agricultural raw materials. Therefore, we are actively developing alternative methods of product delivery – by rail or other modes of transport. But we will do everything possible to ensure that all logistical issues are resolved before the harvest, ” said Tatiana Hetman.
