Shortage of vacancies: who has difficulty finding a job in Lviv Oblast?

According to statistical data held by the regional employment center, at the beginning of August of this year, an average of three unemployed persons applied for one job vacancy in Lviv region.

However, the workload in different sectors of the economy is quite different. For example, as of August 1, 2022, by type of activity, the largest number of vacancies were declared by enterprises of the processing industry (29.6%), wholesale and retail trade establishments, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair (15.4%), as well as companies in the field of transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities (9.5%).

Traditionally, the region lacks seamstresses, motor vehicle drivers, locksmiths of various specializations, electricians, operators of automatic and semi-automatic lines of machine tools and installations, hairdressers, fitters of cable production, carpenters, electric gas welders, tractor drivers, etc.

Chances of getting a job with doctors of various profiles, managers, accountants, police officers, administrators, inspectors are quite high.

There is a considerable demand for workers in the field of trade (sales consultants, cashiers of the trading hall, sellers of food products), public catering (cooks, bartenders, bakers, waiters, confectioners), as well as for people without a profession or special education: janitors, junior nurses, cleaners of the territory or auxiliary workers.

There is an acute shortage of vacancies in the Lviv region for lawyers, storekeepers, economists, civil service specialists, nurses, librarians, postmen, security guards, warehouse managers.

The largest number of applicants from among the registered unemployed for 1 vacancy of head and manager (8 people), technical employee (7 people) and specialist (5 people).
