By the end of the year, it is planned to launch a railway connection on the Khyriv – Starzhava – Sanok section with a further exit to the city of Krakow.

This was announced by the deputy chief of the Lviv OVA, Yuriy Buchko, following the results of an on-site meeting in Khirov.

“We continue to develop international communication between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland.

The railway infrastructure (tracks, stations) within Ukraine on the section state border – Nyzhankovychi – Khyriv – state border (Smilnytsia) is ready for operation by rolling stock on a 1435 mm gauge and can be operated by Polish carriers.

At the first stage, we plan to launch a railway connection on the Khyriv – Starzhava – Sanok section with further access to the city of Krakow. We plan to implement this project by the end of the year. Such a decision and future actions were discussed in Khyrov with representatives of customs, Ukrzaliznytsia and the Western Regional Department of the State Border Service,” noted Yuriy Buchko.

Previously, the train will run daily, and customs clearance and passport control will be carried out at the “Smilnytsia – Krościenko” checkpoint.

At the second stage, it is planned to launch a railway connection on the Khyriv-Nyzhankovichi-Peremyshil section. The third stage is the construction of a 1435 mm track to the city of Sambir.

“Railways have always played an important role, and the war doubled it.

We are constantly working on the expansion of international railway passenger routes. Ukraine is part of Europe, passengers should feel like Europeans and travel comfortably. I remind you that since October 15, the Lviv-Warsaw train runs daily, which is in great demand! Together we can do more!”, Yuriy Buchko emphasized.

We will remind

On October 15, the first flight of a new international train to Warsaw left. From now on, residents of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Strya, Kolomyia, Kalusha, Bryukhovych and Zhovkva can travel to Warsaw or Lublin by making one convenient transfer.

A modern Ukrainian-made diesel train with Wi-Fi access via Starlink runs from these settlements to Rava-Ruska.
