Drohobychvodokanal, with UNICEF support, upgrades pumping equipment at two facilities

The municipal utility Drohobychvodokanal is modernising its pump electrical equipment at two of the company’s facilities at the same time. The project was launched in July 2026 and is being implemented thanks to financial support from the international organisation UNICEF.

At the main sewage pumping station, a new 2CM /4a pump unit with a capacity of 160 kW and a value of UAH 594,840 has been installed. It has replaced an old, energy-intensive pump with a lower efficiency rating, which had failed. On 9 October 2026, the unit successfully passed its trial start-up.

Under the same programme, an asynchronous electric motor, model 355-B3, with a capacity of 450 kW and a value of UAH 1,515,000, has been purchased for the Hirne water intake, as well as a submersible well pump with a capacity of 22 kW for UAH 134,164. On 13 October, company employees installed the new electric motor to replace the previous one that had failed. Its connection, alignment and commissioning are scheduled for the following week. The new submersible pump is currently awaiting installation.

According to the head of Drohobychvodokanal, Roman Shahala, the total cost of the project is UAH 2,244,000. Of this amount, UNICEF has provided funding of UAH 1,826,191, while the company’s contribution amounted to UAH 417,712, which corresponds to the amount of value added tax.

The Drohobychvodokanal team has publicly thanked UNICEF for supporting the modernisation of the electrical equipment and expressed hope for continued cooperation.
