The Drohobych community proudly announces its victory in the competition “Creating Financial Instruments for Energy and Climate Solutions.” This achievement marks a significant step toward advancing renewable energy and improving energy efficiency locally.
In addition to Drohobych, the Pustomyty and Sambir communities of the Lviv region were also named winners.
The winners will have the opportunity to develop financial instruments such as revolving funds and municipal programs. These tools will facilitate the implementation of sustainable energy projects, attract additional resources, and make optimal use of local potential.
The Drohobych community has already participated in a three-day training session led by EcoClub experts, gaining valuable insights into creating financial mechanisms. The community will continue refining its ideas and working on their implementation.
The two communities that most successfully create and implement their financial tools will receive a grant of €10,000 for further activities.
Selection criteria for the contest winners included:
- availability of strategic documents in energy and climate sectors;
- quality and feasibility of the proposed local financial tool concept for sustainable solutions;
- potential financial contribution from the community;
- a team comprising three representatives from different sectors (local government, business, and civil society).
The project is supported by the IKI Small Grants program, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUV). The initiative is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
