On Wednesday, March 22, a solidarity match between Great Britain and Ukraine will be held in the British Parliament, in which the number one player of the British national team, Michael Adams, will play against the Ukrainian champion from Lviv Andrii Volokytin. This was reported in the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv OVA.
36-year-old Andrii Volokitin is an honored master of sports of Ukraine, international grandmaster, three-time champion of Ukraine. As part of the national team of Ukraine, the winner of the Chess Olympiad and the European Chess Championship, the silver and bronze medalist of the Chess Olympiad.
As announced by British chess resources, the Speaker of the Parliament will make the ceremonial first move for Michael Adams, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain, Vadym Prystaiko, will answer for Volokitin. The players will then play a friendly blitz game with five minutes per game.
The meeting between Adams and Volokitin is one of eight that will take place within the Solidarity Match. Part of the games will also be held at the Embassy of Ukraine, and another part will be held at the office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
