The state is transferring five diesel generators free of charge to ensure the operation of water utilities in Lviv and Drohobych. The relevant decision was adopted by the Regional Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations.
Three generators will be sent to Lvivvodokanal, and another two will be received by Drohobychvodokanal. The equipment will be used as a backup power source for facilities on which the water supply for more than one million residents of the Lviv community and around 115,000 residents of the Drohobych community depends.
Thanks to the generators, pumping stations will be able to continue operating even in the event of prolonged power outages. The state is providing communities with the necessary equipment, while the region is responsible for organising this process.
Local self-government bodies have been instructed to prepare the generators for operation before the start of the heating season and to ensure they are fully ready for use.
