Lviv Region Develops New Tourist Routes

The Commission on the Development of Active Tourism Routes in the Lviv Region reviewed proposals for two new tourist routes.

Skitrack Route ‘Slavske – Mt. Trostyan’, spanning 12.1 km and submitted by the Slavske Village Council, is a symbol of Slavske. Mount Trostyan is known for its TV tower and has been a center for skiing since the interwar period. It combines natural beauty, historical landmarks, and active leisure.

Cycling Route ‘Landscapes and Sacred Heritage of the Stryisko-Sianska Highlands’, 55 km in length, was initiated by the Boykivshchyna National Nature Park and the Borynia Territorial Community. Notable sights include the Church of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God (1838) in the village of Matkiv, which is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

During the discussion, the commission recommended changing the starting point to Mount Trostyan and integrating a pedestrian trail into the international tourist trail E8. It was also proposed to enhance the ‘Landscapes and Sacred Heritage of the Stryisko-Sianska Highlands’ route to grant it the status of a regional tourist trail. Additionally, there are plans to create the R61 international bicycle route in the Lviv region.
