“Lvivteploenergo” nears completion of heating network replacement on Naukova Street in Lviv

In Lviv, the municipal heating utility Lvivteploenergo is entering the final stage of a large-scale replacement of an emergency heating network on Naukova Street. Following the works carried out, the company has almost fully restored the supply of hot water to residential buildings that had been temporarily disconnected.

According to the company, the day before, heating engineers restored hot water supply to a further 60 buildings on Naukova, Puliuia, Symonenka and Kulparkivska streets. Taking into account more than 50 buildings that were reconnected on Monday, hot water has been restored to almost all consumers who had been left without the service due to the repair works.

Lvivteploenergo notes that the works on Naukova Street have been under way since the end of July and covered several sections of a large-diameter trunk heating main. Because of this, the supply of hot water to buildings on adjacent streets had to be temporarily suspended. At present, three buildings at 29, 43 and 49 Naukova Street are still without hot water, but they are expected to be reconnected the following day.

The replacement of more than a kilometre of the heating network on Naukova Street began on 29 July. This section was laid back in 1973, so it has been in operation for more than 50 years and was significantly worn out. In recent years, frequent ruptures and emergency situations have been recorded here, and during this year's hydraulic tests substantial damage was identified.

This year, Lvivteploenergo plans to replace around 15 km of heating networks in total, to ensure the reliable passage of the heating season. The company has more than 560 km of heating networks on its books, and more than half of them have already exceeded their standard service life and therefore require phased renewal.
