Reconstruction of emergency sections of the trunk water main between Maheriv and Lviv is under way. This main supplies water, in particular, to Lviv’s Shevchenkivskyi district. According to LMKP «Lvivvodokanal», 500 metres of new pipeline have already been laid.
The works are being carried out in the fields: utility staff are welding large-diameter polyethylene pipes and preparing them for installation using specialised machinery.
As part of the project, a total of 2.4 km of the water main is to be replaced. The upgraded line uses polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 630 mm. Lvivvodokanal notes that the reconstruction should reduce the number of breakdowns and the risk of sudden outages, as well as ensure a more stable water supply in this area.
«Overall, as part of the project, we are to upgrade 2.4 km of the network. The first half a kilometre of the new pipeline has already been laid. The reconstruction will help reduce the number of emergency situations and the risk of sudden outages, as well as make the water supply in this area more stable», Lvivvodokanal reported.
The utility manages around 2,700 km of water supply networks and 925 km of sewerage networks. According to Lvivvodokanal, approximately 80% of the pipelines need replacing, so every month work is carried out to renew emergency sections of both the water supply and sewerage networks.
