Customs Officers Discover Undeclared Currency at the Border with Poland

Customs officers thwarted an attempt to undeclare currency at the border with Poland.

On October 18, a JEEP vehicle arrived at the ‘Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne’ checkpoint in the direction of ‘exit from Ukraine’. The 52-year-old driver, a citizen of the Republic of Poland, chose the ‘green corridor’ lane intended for transporting goods without declaration. During the inspection of the driver’s and passenger’s personal belongings, cash amounting to 32,600 euros was discovered.

During the explanation, the driver acknowledged owning 22,600 euros, while the remaining 10,000 euros belonged to the passenger. This confirms the fact of the driver failing to declare cash amounting to 11,600 euros, which, according to the NBU exchange rate, exceeds 611,000 hryvnias.

A protocol on violation of customs rules has been drawn up based on Part 1, Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
