Beneficiaries of the program, in addition to IDPs, are also territorial communities, because donors provide support measures for them as well.
“The vast majority of IDPs in the region who lost their homes as a result of Russian aggression today either rent housing or live in communal and state-owned facilities that are not suitable for long-term residence. In the best case, these are dormitories, social security and health care institutions, and often they are converted for temporary school accommodation, modular towns”, – informs the Department of Economic Policy of the Lviv Regional Government.
In 2022, Lviv OVA, together with donors, covered 120 such objects with repairs. As of today, 152 projects are already in the process of implementation.
At the same time, realizing that this is not enough, the region works for a long-term perspective in this matter.
Yes, yesterday there was a coordination meeting with representatives of Drohobytska, Kamianka-Buzka, Starosambirska territorial communities regarding the implementation of “Housing” projects in their territories.
The relevant housing program is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). It provides for the creation of housing for the long-term residence of IDPs on affordable rent. Beneficiaries of the program, in addition to IDPs, are also territorial communities, because donors provide support measures for them as well.
The next steps will be the signing of a memorandum with the selected communities and the start of the construction of new housing on their territory, or the remodeling of housing on the basis of the existing social infrastructure in the communities.
