In Lviv region, internally displaced persons who bought homes through the state mortgage programme at 3% per annum are receiving additional support from the regional budget. The region fully compensates this 3% interest, so families pay only the principal of the loan without any interest charges from the bank. This was reported by the Lviv Regional State Administration.
The latest meeting of the relevant commission approved payments for 53 displaced persons who bought homes in Lviv region. For August alone, the total amount of compensation for these recipients will be almost UAH 240,000.
According to Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Hrytsyna Zamula, the regional programme was created to help internally displaced persons set up their own homes in Lviv region and reduce their monthly loan repayments.
This financial support is available to people who simultaneously meet several conditions:
- they have the status of an internally displaced person and are registered in Lviv region;
- they have taken out a preferential housing loan under the state programme in accordance with Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 451;
- they have bought a home specifically in Lviv region.
The interest rate compensation allows displaced persons to focus on repaying the principal amount of the loan and to become full homeowners more quickly.
