Agrarians of the Lviv region, along with winter barley, which has already been harvested 84% before the forecast, have started harvesting winter wheat and winter rapeseed.
The areas to be harvested under these crops in the commercial sector amount to 123.6 thousand hectares, including 74.9 thousand hectares. winter wheat and 48.7 thousand ha of winter rapeseed. It is these crops that make up 90% of the area of all winter crops – the department of agro-industrial development of the Lviv Regional Military Administration informs.
“Despite the rainy weather conditions, according to the pace of harvesting early crops, we are still ahead of last year’s indicators by 4%, and we hope to collect high-quality grain without losses in order to reach the same indicators as last year,” commented Tetyana Hetman, director of the department of agro-industrial development of LOVA, on the process of field work.
Also, as reported by the department, as of July 20, all categories of farms harvested early cereals on an area of 15.5 thousand hectares (4.8% before sowing) and oil crops on an area of 4.0 thousand hectares (2.0% before the forecast). 96.9 thousand tons of grain were threshed.
Agricultural enterprises harvested grain crops on an area of 12.6 thousand hectares (6.4% of the forecast) and 4.0 thousand hectares (8.2%) of oil crops. A total of 82.9 thousand tons of grain were threshed. In particular, by cultures:
winter barley was collected on an area of 11.7 thousand ha (84.0% of the sown area), 63.7 thousand tons of grain were threshed with a yield of 54.7 t/ha. Agrarians of Lviv (62 t/ha), Chervonograd (58 t/ha), Stryi (56 t/ha), and Sambir (55 t/ha) districts receive winter barley yields higher than the regional average.
Harvesting of winter wheat also began, of which 6.2 thousand tons were collected on an area of 0.94 thousand hectares (1.3% to the forecast) with a yield of 65.6 tons/ha (+3.2 tons/ha compared to last year).
From the group of oil crops, farmers started threshing winter rape on an area of 3.9 thousand hectares (8.1%), 12.9 thousand tons of grain were threshed, with a yield of 32.6 tons/ha.
