An underground warehouse with goods that have the characteristics of humanitarian cargo was discovered in the Lviv region

The detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security received the permission of the court to search the premises, the investigative actions have been going on for several days.

An underground warehouse with goods that have the characteristics of humanitarian cargo was discovered in the Lviv region.

Andriy Godyk, the first deputy head of the Lviv OVA, told about this today, April 25, at a briefing.

“Thanks to the work of the territorial administration of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Lviv region to identify possible signs of economic crimes, including the illegal import of goods into the territory of Ukraine, a warehouse with goods containing signs of humanitarian cargo was discovered.

According to BEB information, we are talking about more than a dozen product names and more than a dozen pallets of goods stored in this warehouse.

If the investigation establishes that these goods are exactly humanitarian goods, then in the conditions of martial law, this is definitely not about the economy, but outright looting. The principle position of the Lviv OVA is that the guilty must be punished, and everything that was illegally imported into the territory of Ukraine as humanitarian cargo must be immediately handed over for the needs of the Armed Forces and the civilian population in those areas that were most affected by the horrors of the war,” said the first deputy Andrii Godyk, head of Lviv OVA.

He added that the identification of the composition is one of the first real results of the analysis of economic security risks, about which a Memorandum was signed in early April between the DPS, law enforcement agencies and the Lviv OVA.

“I am sincerely convinced that with joint efforts, in particular in cooperation with the public, we will continue to be able to effectively combat economic crime in the Lviv region,” added the first deputy.

As noted by acting head of the Territorial Administration of the BEB in the Lviv Region, Valery Tatsienko, the area of warehouses filled with humanitarian aid goods of unknown origin is 1,600 square meters. m.

BEB detectives received the court’s permission to search the premises, so the investigation continues for the fourth day. BEB employees describe the discovered product, classify it, and establish its origin. Among the detected goods: food products, children’s goods, bed linen, blankets, hygiene products, household chemicals, clothes – only about a thousand pallets.

“Now we are finding out how these goods got to the territory of Ukraine, why they were not distributed, and we are checking information about the possible sale of humanitarian aid,” Valery Tatsienko said.

BEB detectives establish the circle of persons involved in the import and storage of humanitarian aid. After all, it took approximately 60 lorries to deliver this cargo, and such movements could not remain unnoticed.
