In Lviv, on Naukova Street, a large-scale replacement of one of the city's most failure-prone main heat networks is under way. The works have been extended until the end of the week, and are planned to be completed by the end of the day on 4 September.
According to LME “Lvivteploenergo”, as of now around 540 metres of the heating network have already been renewed, with a further roughly 500 metres currently being worked on. In particular, 440 metres of pipe with a diameter of 500 mm and 80 metres of pipe with a diameter of 720 mm have been replaced.
Since most of the main line has already been relaid, the heating utility has restored hot water supply to more than 50 buildings on Naukova, Knyahyni Olhy and Troleibusna streets, which had previously been without hot water. At the same time, until the works are completed, several buildings on Naukova, Ivana Puliuya, Kulparkivska and Vasylia Symonenka streets will still temporarily remain without hot water supply.
At the site, they are not only replacing old pipes, but also installing new shut-off valves, including large 500 mm gate valves. All works are being carried out by the company's own staff and equipment, despite a staffing shortage linked to the mobilisation of part of its employees to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“We are carrying out all the works with our own resources. However, we do have a shortage of staff, as part of our team has been mobilised and is serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Despite this, we are completing all the planned works with our own equipment and the efforts of our specialists,” add LME “Lvivteploenergo”.
Lvivteploenergo notes that upgrading the main line on Naukova Street will significantly reduce the risk of breakdowns and ensure stable heat supply to the district during the heating season.
This year, the company plans to replace a total of 15 km of heating networks to ensure a reliable heating season. LME “Lvivteploenergo” operates more than 560 km of heat networks, and more than half of them have already exceeded their standard service life.
