Lviv Oblast is one of the four regions where the pilot project is being implemented.
In Ukraine, the process of competitive selection of candidates for participation in the pilot project to start a veteran’s assistant institute is underway. In total, more than 220 applications have already been submitted across Ukraine willing to join this initiative of the veterans’ department, which will last in the form of an experiment until the end of the year in four regions of the country.
Tetyana Kalita, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine for Digital Transformation, said this during the live broadcast of the national telethon “Yedini Novyni”.
We should note that there are already more than half a hundred such volunteers in the Lviv region.
She reported that currently the average age of those who are potentially ready to be employed as a veteran’s assistant is 43 years old, and 54% of them are women. In terms of level of education, it was noted that currently 52% of candidates have master’s degrees, 48% are bachelors. The majors with which people come to this project are law, finance, accounting and auditing, and pedagogical specialties.
We would like to remind you that the purpose of the veteran’s assistants’ activity is to, guided by the principle of “equal to equal”, help, support and coordinate the necessary support of our Defenders on the difficult path of transition from military service to civilian life.
“The assistant will proactively work with the target audience of this service. Cooperation has also been established with TsNAPAs, which can be one of the points of contact in the community for the relevant category of people. If somewhere there is no Center for administrative services, then the community itself chooses a place that is as comfortable as possible for veterans to have such a point of intersection or contact with their assistants,” said Tetyana Kalita.
The deputy minister also reported that training for future assistants of veterans will start in August. In addition, training will also be held for those who will train the employees of service offices in communities, for whom it is extremely important to understand both the legal subtleties of the mission and to have the appropriate empathy in communication in order to ultimately be able to accompany a certain category of people with dignity and dignity.
The working conditions of the veteran’s assistants will be difficult, but very clear at the same time, – admitted the official. And this is not only purely administrative work. If necessary, the assistant should help veterans prepare documents that should be submitted to one or another authority. Or, for example, to come and discuss some issues at home with the veteran’s family.
“In order to solve the functions assigned to this institute as comfortably as possible, on the one hand, we have prescribed a decent salary for the employees, and on the other hand, we plan to provide them with official tablets or other gadgets for the convenient provision of the target category of services in any place of the community,” added Tetyana Kalita during the broadcast of the telethon.
We would like to remind you that candidates for competitive selection as veteran assistants can submit an application in electronic form to participate in the competition exclusively through the E-veteran information portal (https://eveteran.gov.ua). That is, for this you do not need to go to some offices, it can be done at home within a few minutes. Actually, such a mechanism is an element of barrier-freeness of this pilot project. As Ms. Kalita informed, the recruitment for him will actually take place until it is possible to form the necessary number of candidates, which is 400 people. In the future, during the nationwide scale-up of the initiative, of course, the need for such specialists will increase several times.
