Elevators and Dry Port to be Built in Belz Community

Grain elevators and a dry port with processing facilities will be built in the Belz community with investors’ funds.

A memorandum regarding this was signed on June 10 by Acting Head of the Lviv Regional Council Yuriy Kholod, Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, and Head of the Belz Community Oksana Bereza with the director of Agricultural Holding Company (AgHoldCo, Inc.) Mark Kechai. AgHoldCo, Inc will provide the main part of the project financing – 80-85% of the total investment volume. Additionally, funds will be attracted from the Danish state export agency EIFO, from which AgHoldCo expects to obtain a loan of USD 12 million for the construction of each elevator. A contribution from the Belz territorial community is also expected – no less than USD 3 million for each subproject.

“The construction of grain elevators and a dry port in the Belz community will contribute to the development of the region’s logistics infrastructure, the creation of new jobs, and the attraction of investments. Moreover, an industrial park based on this project will open new opportunities for agricultural processing and the export of Ukrainian agricultural products. This memorandum is a small start, but a very big responsibility. If the project is fully implemented, it will be very economically beneficial. Ahead lies a challenging task. I wish everyone success in implementing the project. For our part, the regional authorities will facilitate the rapid implementation of this challenging ambitious project within the current legislation and to the extent of its capacities and powers,” said Yuriy Kholod.

According to Oksana Bereza, the first step is the construction of the elevator, and the second phase will be a large logistics terminal. “We plan to start work by the end of the year. In the long term, the implementation of this project will facilitate the development of the community, budget inflow, and the creation of new jobs,” noted Oksana Bereza.

“It is extremely pleasing that such large-scale agricultural projects are being implemented in Lviv Region during the war. My thanks to Mr. Mark Kechai for believing in Ukraine, especially Lviv Region. We are ready to facilitate the realization of projects at the government and regional levels and provide investor support,” emphasized Maksym Kozytskyi.
