In Drohobych, the municipal programme of compensatory payments for concessionary travel by motor transport for certain categories of residents continues to be implemented. The Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Drohobych City Council has reported that carriers were reimbursed UAH 3.2 million for June and July 2026.
The programme of compensatory payments for concessionary travel for 2026 was approved by Decision No. 3690 of the Drohobych City Council dated 11 December 2025. Under this programme, UAH 2.3 million had previously been reimbursed for May and June 2026.
Overall, the Department of Social Protection of the Population reimburses carriers for the costs of transporting concessionary passengers on urban bus routes for general use. This concerns concessionary transport services for 91,428 journeys totalling UAH 3,160,000.
The following categories of citizens are entitled to free travel on public buses:
- combatants, including those who served in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) and the Joint Forces Operation (JFO), as well as ATO volunteer fighters;
- persons with disabilities resulting from war and persons accompanying a group I war invalid;
- persons classified as category I, affected by the Chornobyl disaster;
- participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (ChNPP) who belong to category II;
- persons with disabilities of groups I and II;
- persons accompanying a group I person with a disability;
- parents of deceased service personnel;
- family members of deceased (late) war veterans;
- family members of missing and captured service personnel;
- veterans of military service, internal affairs bodies, the tax militia, the State Fire Service, the State Criminal-Executive Service of Ukraine, the Civil Protection Service, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, as well as veterans of the National Police;
- rehabilitated persons, including victims of repression;
- children from large families.
The compensation is intended to ensure that these categories of citizens can use municipal motor transport free of charge, without placing an additional financial burden on carriers.
