In Drohobych, a new, economically justified tariff for water supply and sewerage services has been approved at 87.30 UAH per cubic metre. The corresponding decision was adopted on 1 June at a meeting of the executive committee.
Previously, a tariff of 43.36 UAH applied to residents of the Drohobych community, which had remained unchanged since 2021. In 2025, the state regulator NKREKP set an economically justified tariff of 83.89 UAH for the municipal enterprise “Drohobychvodokanal”, but it was not applied to community residents, which led to the accumulation of substantial debts at the enterprise and affected production processes.
This year, the authority to set water tariffs was transferred to local self-government bodies, giving the community the opportunity to independently adopt decisions to maintain the stable operation of water supply and sewerage systems.
According to Roman Shagala, the current decision is a tariff adjustment to the level of 83.89 UAH per cubic metre, which had already been approved by the state. The new tariff takes into account the increase in fuel costs, an investment component of 300,000 UAH per year, and a 4% profitability margin. In view of this, the adjusted tariff of 87.30 UAH is 3.40 UAH higher than the previous level approved by NKREKP.
Recognising that the tariff increase will be keenly felt by community residents, the social protection department has prepared a separate compensation programme for socially vulnerable groups. It is intended to partially or fully cover the additional costs incurred by these consumers.
