In Lviv, as of now, an increase in public transport fares is not being considered. This was reported by the Director of the Department of Urban Mobility and Street Infrastructure of the Lviv City Council, Oleh Zabarylo, commenting on information that had appeared in certain media outlets.
According to him, the city has not received any official requests from operators regarding a review of the current fare, nor are there any necessary economic calculations that could serve as a basis for taking such a decision.
“The cost of fuel has indeed increased and now stands at about 100 hryvnias per litre. At the same time, the fare was reviewed relatively recently. Therefore, at present there are no grounds for another increase” — Oleh Zabarylo
The official also reminded that operators are responsible for failing to put vehicles on routes or for an insufficient number of vehicles in service. For each route where underdeployment is recorded, companies are fined 1700 UAH per day.
The Lviv City Council notes that payments for transport services provided for in the city budget are made to operators in full. In particular, for August they received 100% of the funds for the so-called budget-funded services.
