In Lviv, intensified inspections of air conditioning systems in public transport are ongoing. On 6 August, staff from the transport department inspected 53 city buses operating on 14 routes and recorded two cases of faulty cooling systems.
The checks were carried out on buses running on routes No. 14, 20, 23, 31, 32, 34, 37, 41, 43, 48, 51, 53, 80 and 84. Violations were found in one bus on route No. 31, operated by PJSC “LATP-14630”, and in one bus on route No. 34, operated by the carrier LLC “Fiakr Lviv”.
Due to non-compliance with the terms of their passenger transport contracts, these operators will have to pay penalties. City officials remind residents that large-scale inspections of vehicles’ technical condition were stepped up after a rise in complaints from Lviv residents about heat and stuffiness in the passenger compartments.
At the same time, the transport department notes that not all buses and electric transport vehicles in Lviv are structurally equipped with cooling systems. Of more than 500 city buses, over 180 have air conditioning. The situation is similar with electric transport: 134 trams and trolleybuses run on routes every day, of which more than 60 are fitted with air conditioning.
