Air conditioning in Lviv city buses inspected

In Lviv, additional monitoring of air conditioning systems in public transport continues following numerous passenger complaints about heat in vehicle interiors.

According to the transport department, on 10 August officials inspected 27 buses operating on six city routes: Nos. 14, 20, 23, 32, 48 and 51.

During the inspection, a breach was identified in one bus on route No. 14, operated by Mira i K LLC. The vehicle’s air conditioning system was not working. Following the inspection, the carrier will be fined for failing to comply with the terms of the passenger transport contract.

The transport department recalls that proactive inspections of the technical condition of public transport in Lviv began after an increase in complaints from residents about stifling conditions in buses, trams and trolleybuses.

At the same time, the department notes that not all vehicles in the city are structurally equipped with cooling systems. Of more than 500 city buses, over 180 vehicles have air conditioning. The situation is similar in electric transport: 134 trams and trolleybuses run daily, of which more than 60 vehicles are equipped with air conditioning.
