On March 5, carriers approached the Lviv City Council with a request to review the fare for municipal public transport due to a significant increase in fuel prices. In the request received by the council, transportation companies PJSC “Lvivske ATP-14630”, LLC “Mira i K”, LLC “Fiakr-Lviv”, and LLC “Uspikh BM”, operating as part of the “Ekopastrans” consortium, describe the importance of this review.
According to the carriers, when the current fare was approved, a liter of diesel fuel cost 44 UAH, but now its price has increased to 70 UAH and continues to rise. The share of fuel costs in the fare has already exceeded 70%, prompting them to request an adjustment to the fare. At the beginning of 2023, the average economically justified fare was 16.26 UAH, while the rise in fuel prices and increased salaries create financial difficulties for the companies.
The carriers note that the current fare does not cover expenses for fuel, salaries, spare parts, and other necessary costs for transportation. They emphasize that operating under such conditions is financially challenging and ask the city to urgently address the issue of fares.
The city council reported that this request will be considered tomorrow at the executive committee meeting. Read more at city-adm.lviv.ua.
