Lviv plans to raise tariffs for certain funeral services

In Lviv, a decision is being prepared to adjust tariffs for certain funeral services. The changes will concern, in particular, grave digging, issuing contracts and burial certificates, dismantling grave structures during additional interments, as well as the burial of urns with ashes. The draft decision is to be submitted to the executive committee of Lviv City Council for consideration.

The Department of Housing and Infrastructure explains that the current tariffs, approved in 2025, no longer cover the company’s actual costs. This is due to increases in the minimum wage, the subsistence minimum, labour costs, taxes, fuel and lubricants, repair and maintenance of equipment, as well as other components of the cost of services.

LKP «Municipal Ritual Service» notes that without revising the tariffs there is a risk of wage arrears to employees and debts to the budget, while the company is obliged to comply with legal requirements on remuneration.

The proposed tariff changes have been developed in accordance with current legislation and on the basis of economically justified calculations of the actual costs of providing the relevant services. The tariff review is a forced but necessary step to ensure the proper quality of funeral services, the timely payment of wages to employees and the stable operation of the company in the interests of the territorial community of the city of Lviv, the LKP «Municipal Ritual Service» emphasises.

The adjustment will apply to the following services:

  • Issuing a contract-order for the organisation and conduct of a burial — from 38 UAH to 54 UAH;
  • Issuing a burial certificate — from 24 UAH to 34 UAH.

The cost of grave digging will change:

  • depth 1.1 m in summer — from 806 UAH to 1,020 UAH;
  • depth 1.1 m in winter — from 1,463 UAH to 1,851 UAH;
  • depth 1.6 m in summer — from 1,627 UAH to 2,059 UAH;
  • depth 1.6 m in winter — from 3,022 UAH to 3,824 UAH;
  • depth 2 m in summer — from 2,331 UAH to 2,950 UAH;
  • depth 2 m in winter — from 4,293 UAH to 5,433 UAH;
  • depth 2.4 m in summer — from 3,330 UAH to 4,214 UAH;
  • depth 2.4 m in winter — from 6,101 UAH to 7,720 UAH.

New tariffs are also envisaged for dismantling grave structures during additional interments:

  • single headstone: in summer — from 3,855 UAH to 4,530 UAH, in winter — from 4,201 UAH to 4,963 UAH;
  • “one-and-a-half” headstone: in summer — from 6,308 UAH to 7,414 UAH, in winter — from 6,878 UAH to 8,125 UAH;
  • double headstone: in summer — from 9,058 UAH to 10,643 UAH, in winter — from 9,874 UAH to 11,663 UAH.

The cost of burying urns with ashes will also rise:

  • in a columbarium niche in summer — from 1,328 UAH to 1,680 UAH;
  • in a columbarium niche in winter — from 1,666 UAH to 2,109 UAH;
  • in a previously installed columbarium niche in summer — from 1,356 UAH to 1,716 UAH;
  • in a previously installed columbarium niche in winter — from 1,525 UAH to 1,930 UAH;
  • sealing an urn in a columbarium wall — from 1,200 UAH to 1,519 UAH.

The company stresses that the tariff review should ensure the stable operation of the service, which performs an important social function for Lviv residents, and make it possible to maintain the proper technical condition of equipment and vehicles.
