In Lviv, the third and final stage of repairs to Heroiv UPA St is beginning. As reported by the Frankivsk District Administration, works will start on 27 June on the section from Smal-Stotsky St to Kulparkivska St.
On this section of Heroiv UPA St the old asphalt will be milled and two layers of new road surfacing will be laid. As in the previous stages, the contractor is Onur LLC, and the works are being carried out with deferred payment.
Before this, the second part of the street — from Vasylkivsky St to Smal-Stotsky St — was completed. Overall, the project was divided into three stages to reduce inconvenience for drivers and business owners operating along this main thoroughfare:
- Stage I — from S. Bandera St to Vasylkivsky St;
- Stage II — from Vasylkivsky St to Smal-Stotsky St;
- Stage III — from Smal-Stotsky St to Kulparkivska St.
Due to the repairs, public transport routes have been altered and will remain in place for the entire period of works on Heroiv UPA St. In particular:
- trolleybus No. 22 “University — Bus Station” runs via: “University — St Yura Square — Sheptytskykh St — Kropyvnytskoho Square — Horodotska St — Kulparkivska St (then as per route)”;
- trolleybus No. 30 “University — Ryashivska” follows the same pattern: “University — St Yura Square — Sheptytskykh St — Kropyvnytskoho Square — Horodotska St — Kulparkivska St (then as per route)”;
- bus No. 7 “Horynia St — Chyhyrynska St” operates via: “Horodotska St (Suburban Station) — Kulparkivska St (then as per route)”;
- bus No. 33 “Sichovykh Striltsiv St — I. Puliuya St” runs via: “Sichovykh Striltsiv St — St Yura Square — Metropolitan Andrey St — S. Bandera St — Kropyvnytskoho Square — Horodotska St — Kulparkivska St (then as per route)”.
These diversion routes will remain in force until all stages of repairs on Heroiv UPA St are completed.
The City Council reminds residents that with the start of the full-scale invasion, major road repairs in Lviv were temporarily halted. However, due to heavy traffic, the surface on key streets began to deteriorate rapidly, so postponing the works further became economically unjustified.
Accordingly, in 2025, using loan funds, repairs began on one of the city’s most accident-prone streets — Zaliznychna St, and in 2026, again using loan funds, works started on Mazepy St. Meanwhile, on Stryyska, Heroiv UPA, Horodotska and Vynnychenka streets, repairs are being carried out with deferred payment.
Local businesses are also contributing to the renewal of the road infrastructure. In particular, the repair of Konyushynna St was carried out with business co-financing and deferred payment, while works on Beskydska St are also being implemented with the involvement of local entrepreneurs.
