In Lviv, repairs continue on unsafe balconies in multi-flat buildings that are not listed as architectural monuments, under a co-financing programme: 80% of the cost of the works is covered by the city budget, with the remaining 20% paid by residents. This was reported by the Frankivsk District Administration of Lviv.
Recently, under this programme, repairs were completed on a balcony in an emergency condition in the building at 18 Antonovycha St. This is already the second balcony restored in the Frankivsk district this year within the framework of co-financing. Previously, a balcony was repaired at 7 I. Nechuya-Levytskoho St, and in the near future works will start on another site — at 31 General Chuprynky St.
The district administration stresses that the buildings where these works are being carried out do not have the status of architectural monuments, so they fall under the conditions of the programme with an 80% city contribution.
“This year, under the co-financing programme for repairing unsafe balconies, we have already repaired 2 balconies — at 18 V. Antonovycha St and 7 I. Nechuya-Levytskoho St. Now we are starting repairs at 31 General Chuprynky St. The above-mentioned buildings are not architectural monuments, so the co-financing of balcony repairs is 80% from the city and 20% paid by residents. So if your balcony needs repairs, make use of the co-financing programme. To do this, you need to apply to a CNAP with the necessary documents” — Frankivsk District Administration
In 2023, Lviv carried out a large-scale inspection of balconies in multi-flat residential buildings. As a result, 9,270 individual balconies and 4,201 communal-use balconies were found to be in an unsatisfactory condition. Owners of flats with unsafe structures were provided with information about the available city programmes through which they can carry out repairs.
Residents of listed architectural monuments whose balconies require restoration can take part in a separate Co-financing Programme for the Restoration of Balconies in Residential Buildings that are Architectural Monuments. Consultations on this programme are provided by the Heritage Protection Department, and the application package is submitted by residents through a CNAP.
For owners of individual balconies in buildings that are not listed as architectural monuments and are in poor technical condition, there is a special Programme to Support Co-owners of Multi-flat Buildings in Carrying Out Emergency or Major Repairs, Reconstruction and Repair-and-restoration Works to Communal Property in Multi-flat Buildings of the Lviv Municipal Territorial Community. Under this programme, balcony repairs are carried out on co-financing terms: 80% is paid by the city, 20% by residents.
According to the Lviv Municipal Territorial Community, in 2024, under the co-financing programme, 83 individual balconies and 7 communal-use balconies were repaired. A total of UAH 7.6 million was allocated from the city budget for this.
In 2025, within the same programme, 64 balconies were renovated in the city, including 55 individual and 9 communal-use balconies. Funding from the Lviv budget amounted to UAH 6.7 million.
Residents whose balconies are in an emergency or poor condition are advised by the Frankivsk District Administration to contact the Administrative Services Centres with the required set of documents in order to make use of the city’s repair co-financing programmes.
