In the Riasne neighbourhood of Lviv, the reconstruction of the traffic light installation at 358 T. Shevchenka St is nearing completion. After this, it will operate in “smart corridor” mode together with the subsequent traffic lights on this main road.
The upgraded system will regulate traffic not only at the pedestrian crossing near the VAM shopping centre, as it did before, but will also cover the junction of T. Shevchenka, Professor I. Kovalyk and Tomashivska streets. This is intended to streamline the exit from side streets onto the main road and improve safety for all road users.
LKP “Lvivavtodor” explained that the reconstruction has made it possible to extend the area covered by traffic light control and to synchronise the operation of the installations along Shevchenka St.
“We have provided for coordinated operation of the traffic lights to manage outbound traffic from the city,” said the director of LKP “Lvivavtodor” Mykola Vlasiuk.
The works at the site are being carried out by the contractor RAUN LLC.
In total, according to LKP “Lvivavtodor”, the company currently services 177 traffic light installations in the city, where around 2.5 thousand traffic signal heads are in operation. All of them are connected to uninterruptible power supply units and can therefore function even during power outages.
