The modernisation of the wastewater disposal system is underway in the Sokal community as part of an infrastructure project. The municipal utility company “Sokalvodokanal” is reconstructing the pressure sewer collector from sewage pumping station No. 3 in the settlement of Zhvyrka to SPS No. 1 in the town of Sokal.
The project is entitled “Reconstruction with replacement of the existing pressure sewer collector from SPS No. 3 in the settlement of Zhvyrka, Ivasyuka Street, to SPS No. 1 at 2a Makarenka Street (Francheska Halamay), in the town of Sokal, Sheptytskyi district, Lviv region”. The works involve the renewal of worn-out networks along this section to improve the reliability and safety of the community’s sewer infrastructure.
The initiative is being implemented under the grant programme “Regional Opportunities for Just Transition and Sustainable Development (ROOTS)”. The programme is implemented by the East Europe Foundation within the framework of the Power4Just Transition project with financial support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany (BMWE) and with the participation of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The Sokal Town Council notes that the project is an important step towards modernising public utility infrastructure and improving the quality of wastewater disposal services for residents of the Sokal community.
