During an extraordinary session held on 2 December, Sheptytsky Mayor Andriy Zalivsky said that Alterenergo West LLC proposes to build a thermal power plant in the city.
Negotiations with this company have been going on for a year, Andriy Zalivsky told Holos Sokalshchyny.
A location has been preliminarily selected next to the boiler house of RGC-1 on the territory of the former fuel oil farm. The company is ready to buy out the property of the district heating company, which is under a tax lien. The TPP will be fuelled by biomass – wood chips made from wood waste.
Alterenergo Zakhid has already built and operates a number of boiler houses in Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia and Lviv regions. In particular, in 2022, a 5.0 MW biomass boiler house was launched in Drohobych, which provides heat to 25 residential multi-storey buildings and 9 public sector buildings.
If the city council approves such an investment project, ALTERENERGO ZAKHID LLC is ready to sign a contract and pay an advance for the purchase of boilers.
The amount of investment funds for the implementation of such a project is about UAH 600,000,000.
