Today, October 15, the first flight of a new international train left for Warsaw. From now on, residents of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Strya, Kolomyia, Kalusha, Bryukhovych and Zhovkva can travel to Warsaw or Lublin by making one convenient transfer.
A modern Ukrainian-made diesel train with Wi-Fi access via Starlink runs from these settlements to Rava-Ruska.
At the Rava-Ruska station, passengers transfer from a train with a Ukrainian gauge (1520 mm) to a train of the Polish carrier SKPL with a European gauge (1435 mm) and vice versa.
Both trains can carry about 200 passengers per one-way flight, they have 1st and 2nd class seats.
“In March, on the instructions of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the implementation of the project to launch a new train to Warsaw via Rava-Ruska began. And today we launch this train. The development of comfortable transfer routes allows to increase the offer. The efficiency of such logistics was proved by the route Kyiv-Khelm-Warsaw, which has almost 100% population. We hope that the new Lviv—Rava-Ruska—Warsaw trains will not be an exception. For the flights of the first week of this train, 70% of the offered tickets have already been sold. We thank our passengers who chose this new route for travel. In the near future, the Chop-Prague international train is planned, and we are also working on the Przemyśl-Berlin route,” said Yevhen Lyashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
The railway passenger service between Ukraine and Poland via Rava Ruska was stopped about 18 years ago due to the lack of passenger demand for this route. In order to restore the connection between Rawa-Ruska-Warsaw, last year railway workers carried out major repairs of the 8 km long Eurotrack from the State Border to Rawa-Ruska, and also reconstructed the railway station in Rawa-Ruska for the possibility of customs and border control.
The head of the region added that this year Lviv Oblast is also expecting the implementation of the second stage of the project “Eurocolia Warsaw – Lviv”
“It envisages the development and production of design and estimate documentation for the restoration of the railway connection on the European track in the Rava-Ruska – Bryukhovychi section,” Maksym Kozytskyi informed.
The travel time from Lviv to Warsaw is about 9 hours, the price is from 1188 hryvnias. Tickets for all flights are available for purchase in the Ukrzaliznytsia application, on the website, in the chat-bot and at the station ticket offices.
Both trains can carry about 200 passengers per flight in one direction. 1st and 2nd class seats are on offer.
