From 12 October, the procedure for cashless payments on buses will change: passengers will no longer need to tap their bank card or phone on the validator when boarding and alighting. From now on, it will be enough to do this just once — when boarding.
To pay for the journey by card or phone, the passenger must tell the driver which stop they are travelling to, and then tap their bank card, NFC-enabled phone or concessionary card on the validator. The driver selects the appropriate fare and confirms the transaction.
A green tick should appear on the validator screen — this confirms that the payment or registration of a concessionary journey has been successful. After this, it is essential to take the printed ticket. If a red cross is displayed, the transaction has failed.
For passengers paying in cash, the payment procedure will remain unchanged: you must tell the driver your final stop, pay the fare and take a paper ticket.
The transition period for the new rules will last from 12 to 16 October. During this time, the system will operate in the updated mode, but passengers are asked to pay close attention to the validator messages and always take their ticket.
