Customs officers stopped an attempt to illegally import e-cigarettes with cannabidiol into Ukraine.
On October 22, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus, driven by a 32-year-old resident of Dnipropetrovsk region, arrived at the Shehyni–Medyka border crossing point. The driver chose the ‘green corridor’ for simplified customs control. However, during the inspection, customs officers together with the border guards of the 7th Carpathian Detachment discovered 1,094 e-cigarettes in the luggage compartment. They presumably contain cannabidiol, which has psychoactive properties.
The estimated value of these goods on the ‘black’ market is about 1.5 million hryvnias. A protocol on customs rules violation was drawn up for this incident according to Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
