Tax evasion scheme in solar energy sector uncovered in Lviv region

A tax evasion scheme in the solar energy sector has been uncovered in the Lviv region, as a result of which the state budget failed to receive over UAH 10.3 million. This was reported following a pre-trial investigation completed by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Lviv region under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation established that the director and co-founder of a company engaged in the sale and installation of solar panels had concealed part of the company’s income. To do this, he used the details of controlled sole traders who were on the simplified taxation system.

During 2024, part of the funds received from the sale and installation of solar panels was not reflected in the company’s accounting and tax records. In this way, officials understated the company’s actual income and evaded payment of corporation tax and value added tax.

According to the investigation, as a result of these actions the state budget failed to receive over UAH 10.3 million. The suspect admitted his guilt and fully compensated the losses caused.

The case file has been referred to court with a motion to release him from criminal liability in accordance with Part 4 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
