In Lviv, the Introduction of VAT for Sole Traders Discussed

In Lviv, a meeting was held at the regional council to discuss the initiative of introducing VAT for sole traders. The event was attended by Ukrainian MP Nina Yuzhanina, entrepreneurs from the Lviv region, representatives of employers, the council’s chief executive Yaroslav Hasyak, as well as deputies Oleh Ivash and Petro Tseholko.

Nina Yuzhanina noted that in wartime, it is important to understand how businesses operate locally and the challenges they face. This allows for the formation of a position that can be communicated at the national level. According to her, as of early 2026, around 1.6 million sole traders are operating in Ukraine, who in 2025 paid 126 billion UAH in taxes, of which over 56 billion UAH went to local budgets.

Regional council deputy Oleh Ivash emphasised that the introduction of VAT for sole traders could have critical consequences, such as job losses and increased labour migration.
